Great Lakes States Lapbook Part 2

I hope these aren’t getting boring for you or your students.  Do they still pull out the older ones and quiz themselves on the state names and capitals?  Is it fun to know that the cardinal is the state bird of so many states?!  If you have a comment or suggestion for keeping these lapbooks fun and exciting, leave me a comment.  Without further ado, here are the fun Great Lakes Flip Pages for your Great Lakes States Lapbook!

Print the Great Lakes  flip pages  2 sided (flip along the LONG side of the paper).

Cut out along the outside of each flip book, and fold in half on the solid lines.  If your students like coloring, feel free to color in the large letters on the front of each flip page, so they stand out a little more.

Glue these into the bottom 3 and 1/2 inches that I made you save last week. Put them in order to spell “HOMES” – and then your students can use this acrostic to help them remember the names of the Great Lakes.

Have fun reading the fun facts about each feature and looking at the pictures!  I tried to include a little of everything in these- from animals and plants to shipping goods.  A lot of the information for one Great Lake is similar to the others. I also made some highlighted ‘maps’ so your student can memorize which name goes to each lake.

Print the cover for your lapbook:

Glue it to the front of the two side flaps.  (I glue the page to one side, then use the edge of the file folder as a guide to cut on).

Then to make it fit into your Geography 3 ring binder, use some packing tape.  Run the packing tape down the outside of the left side of the Lapbook.  Fold it over onto itself, so that about 1/2 of tape is sticking to itself, and the rest to the lapbook.  Hole punch through the tape and store in your binder!

You can do the same thing using duct tape instead.  There are lots of fun duct tapes out there. This one may be more appropriate than the aliens that we’ve been using. (I don’t regret the Aliens though, they make me smile every time I look at these)

Now you have FOUR geography lapbooks!  We are creating quite a collection of US geography lapbooks.  What do you think?  We might as well keep going right?  Do you love these lapbooks?
