Super Scholar Incentive

Super Scholar is an incentive program for our Catholic Schoolhouse students in grammar, dialectic, and rhetoric ages to learn all of the memory work.

The highest award achievable for all Catholic Schoolhouse students, Super Scholar, consists of all eight subjects from all 24 weeks fully memorized from the Tour Guide.

The eight subjects are Religion, Geography, Math, Language Arts, Latin, Science, History, and Timeline (history cards). Students may choose all or one or more subjects to work toward. Awards are given to those who have successfully memorized each subject area.

Parents will work with their students at home and confirm they are ready to be evaluated at year’s end.

Students are orally tested on all memory work at the end of the year. If they know each fact, they will be known as Super Scholars.

The Director will quiz the student with just the parent present. (Parents are there for support and witness but must remain quiet.) The Director will randomly quiz the child with the beginning portion of the memory work or ask about a topic.

For example:

Director:  “Tell me about the area of a rectangle.”

Student:  “The area of a rectangle equals length times width.”

Director:  “Finish this statement: The Civil Rights movement started in…” and the child will respond with the entire history statement. OR Tell me about the Civil Rights Movement.”

Once the Director is satisfied the student indeed has achieved the award, achievements and prizes will be celebrated and awarded at the Year-End Showcase!

To honor and recognize student achievements, Catholic Schoolhouse Chapter Directors award certificates, a medal, or trophy. Students who attain the Super Scholar title are awarded a Catholic Schoolhouse T-shirt.

Catholic Schoolhouse was founded in 2007 to enhance education in the grammar stage by providing classical memory work for the Catholic homeschool. Going beyond simple memory work, the developers enlisted experts in all areas of study and a wide variety of resources, Catholic and secular, homeschool and non-homeschool to determine what information is typically encountered during the elementary school years (K-8).

Individual families, chapters and co-ops are able to succeed, bring family unity to teaching, and belong to a greater Catholic community with Catholic Schoolhouse.

Catholic Schoolhouse is loyal to the magisterium of the Roman Catholic Church.
